January 15&16- The YSU hockey team lost two straight games and saw their losing streak extend to 4 games. On Friday night the Penguins lost another close game 4-2 to the Dukes of Duquense University. Special teams killed the Penguins as Duquense scored 3 power play goals en route to the victory. Penguins goals were scored by freshman forwards Nick Wolf and Dan Jech and Sophomore Gary Biggs made 31 saves. Duquense scored first mid way through the first period on their first power play attempt. The Penguins rallied in the second, but Duquense answered and came away with the victory. Duquense notched an empty net goal to seal the victory. JANUARY 16- In their second game of the weekend the Penguins played an explosive Washington and Jefferson University team. Washington and Jefferson capitalized on the Penguins mistakes which ended up making the difference in the match up. The Penguins lost 7-4 with Washington and Jefferson adding an empty net goal at the end of the game. The Penguins saw goals from Junior Mike Stokar (2), Freshman Nick Wolf, Mike Evans, Sophomore Gary Biggs made 31 saves in the loosing effort.
