YSU Hockey Drops Two in Buffalo
BOARDMAN, OHIO (Tuesday, December 4, 2007) - The struggles continue for the Youngstown State University Hockey team, as they dropped a pair of games over the weekend at the Blizzard in Buffalo (New York) Tournament.
After making it into overtime on Friday night against the Villanova Ice Cats, the Penguins were beaten on a questionable call. The game-winner was originally ruled to have gone off the crossbar. Moments later, however, the call was reversed, giving Villanova a 4-3 win in the extra session.
Youngstown State then faced off against the tournament hosts in Saturday afternoon's consolation game, losing 3-1 to the University of Buffalo Bulls.
With the losses, the Penguins dropped to 3-16-2 on the season. Next up, YSU Hockey hosts a pair of College Hockey Mid-America conference rivals in their final games before the semester break. Slippery Rock University comes to town this Friday night, before YSU takes on John Carroll University on Saturday. Game time both nights is set for 7 p.m. at the Ice Zone in Boardman.
The Youngstown State University Hockey Team is based out of the Ice Zone and is sponsored by the B.J. Alan Company - Phantom Fireworks, located in Youngstown, Ohio.
